Professor Elizabeth Roberts, Ph.D., is Head of School within the School of Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management. She received her Ph.D. in Classical Rhetoric and Composition from Purdue University, and her dissertation was an ethnographic case study based on a three year study at Hospitality Valuations Services (HVS) in New York City. Her areas of teaching are human resource management, multicultural management, managerial communication, organisational behaviour, and strategic management. Most recently, she was Associate Professor and Associate Head of School at the School of Hospitality and Tourism at Auckland University of Technology. Prior to her work at AUT, she was on the faculty at the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. for sixteen years. In that capacity, she served as Associate Dean at the Australian International Hotel School in Canberra and as Visiting Professor at IMHI/ESSEC Graduate School in Paris, France.
A passionate educator, Elizabeth was a three time recipient of a Teacher of the Year Award at Cornell. She has published numerous articles in business communication and hospitality journals and has delivered over eighty presentations and papers in the U.S. and internationally. Elizabeth Roberts has also been actively involved as a consultant and trainer within the hospitality industry and has worked for international hotel chains throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
